The construction of a two-lane tunnel under the Thimble Shoal canal in Virginia Beach covers approximately 1.6 km with a diameter of about 12 metres. CYMI is responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of the temporary substation that powers the tunnel boring machine during the underwater construction. The temporary substation is located on the first island from where the future tunnel starts, and from this point to the coast, a length of about 3 km is equipped with trays and cables to feed the temporary substation.
